This means the feature race, the Punchestown Gold Cup, will now take place on Saturday.
The news will come as a big blow to racegoers making their way to the track today to see Quel Espirt and Rubi Light go head to head for the Grade One prize.
However, they can take some comfort in the news that the Grade One Irish Daily Mirror War Of Attrition Novice Hurdle will go ahead.
The other races to survive the weather are the Martinstown Opportunity Series Final Handicap Hurdle, the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel Hurdle and the two scheduled flat races.
