LAST UPDATE | 20 May 2022

RTÉ HAVE ANNOUNCED that they will broadcast all six of the Republic of Ireland’s Uefa Nations League games in 2022 on free-to-air television.

Stephen Kenny’s outfit kick off their Uefa Nations League 2022 campaign against Armenia on 4 June. Ukraine and Scotland are also in the group.

All six games will be broadcast live on RTÉ2, RTÉ Player and RTÉ Radio. RTÉ have also secured the rights for Ireland’s home and away matches in the qualifying series for EURO 2024.

FAI Chief Executive Jonathan Hill said: “This deal is positive news for Irish fans and for the FAI as we count down to the start of the Uefa Nations League campaign and the opening game in Armenia on 4 June.

“This tournament is so important to Stephen Kenny’s side in terms of the next Uefa European Championship qualifying campaign and we are delighted that those who cannot make our games in person, home or away, will be able to follow the action to both Nations League and Euro qualification free-to-air on RTÉ.”

Earlier on Friday, Premier Sports announced they will also broadcast Ireland’s fixtures for the 2022/23 Uefa Nations League and the European Qualifiers.

They will show over 400 games live with Ireland games to be broadcast on a non-exclusive basis in the Republic of Ireland, alongside RTÉ, and exclusively in the UK.

Premier Sports will also show Scotland’s fixtures starting with Armenia on 8 June and all of Northern Ireland’s matches.

The deal kicks off with the Finalissima between Copa America holders Argentina and Uefa EURO 2020 winners Italy, in a sold-out Wembley on 1 June.

“We are thrilled to be awarded this fantastic package of Uefa National Team matches,” said CEO of Premier Sports Richard Sweeney.

“This summer when the domestic season ends, our subscribers will enjoy a feast of international football with live coverage of the Uefa Nations League where every game matters as it provides a potential route to qualification for Uefa EURO 2024. From 2023 we will bring fans every game of their team’s vital qualification process towards EURO 2024.”

Meanwhile Virgin Media television has secured multi-platform rights to the Nations League and Nations League Finals from 2022-2025, Uefa European Qualifiers to Uefa EURO 2024 and European Qualifiers to the 2026 Fifa World Cup.

Virgin Media Television will also show highlights of all Ireland’s matches for the next four years, along with holding exclusive Irish free-to-air rights for England matches.
