5 Premier League St Stephen's Day bets to consider

Olivier Giroud to score anytime and more tips for the festive fixtures.

1. Olivier Giroud to score anytime 7/5

OLIVIER GIROUD HAS 10 Premier League goals so far this season.

The French international also has managed six goals from his last four matches in all competitions.

The 29-year-old striker will therefore fancy his chances of continuing this run against a Southampton side who conceded six against Liverpool in the League Cup recently, while Arsenal are currently on course to retain a 100% record in all competitions in December.

2. Chelsea to continue rejuvenation under Hiddink 1/2

In 22 games in charge during his last tenure as manager, Guus Hiddink lost just once as Chelsea manager.

Therefore, despite the Blues’ turbulent start to the season, they will fancy their chances of a securing a win at home to Watford.

The fact that the Chelsea have an aggregate scoreline of 16-0 in the sides’ previous four encounters at Stamford Bridge also doesn’t bode well for the Hornets.

3. Stoke and Man United to draw 9/4

Louis van Gaal may have been angry about intense speculation regarding his future as manager at Old Trafford, but invariably in these type of situations, there is no smoke without fire.

Though the Dutchman remains in the United hotseat, a loss on St Stephen’s Day could mean his days are numbered.

Exiting the Champions League in the group stages and going on a six-game winless run is simply not good enough for a club of the Red Devils’ stature and spending power.

In United’s current dire situation, it’s hard to see how they will summon up the confidence to earn a win at the Britannia Stadium — a tricky place to go at the best of times.

That said, Stoke have hardly been in brilliant form either in recent times, having already lost four home matches this season, so it may well be a case of two teams who are short of confidence labouring to an uninspired stalemate.

4. Over 2.5 goals in Liverpool-Leicester game 8/13

For the first time probably in Premier League history, Leicester go into a match with Liverpool at Anfield as many people’s favourites to win.

Some people expected Claudio Ranieri’s men to falter against an in-form Everton side last week, but they prevailed once again, earning an impressive 3-2 victory.

Whatever happens in this match, expect plenty of goals, with both sides loving to attack, and Leicester the league’s current overall top scorers with 37.

5. Harry Kane to be first goalscorer 3/1

Despite one or two recent blips, most notably the home loss to Newcastle, Tottenham are currently where they want to be in fourth place in the Premier League table.

One key player they have at their disposal is Harry Kane — the best English footballer in the world if a recent Guardian list is to be believed.

There is no doubt that Kane is in fine form at the moment, having scored eight goals in his last eight league matches, including an impressive individual effort against Southampton last week.

And against a Norwich backline that is far from reliable, expect the 22-year-old England international to thrive once again.
