Manchester City v Everton

IT’S GENUINELY HARD to have any sort of confidence in City at the moment. Beaten by Villa and thumped by Bayern Munich in the last seven days, they now face the Premier League’s only unbeaten side. Everton’s recent record at the Etihad is excellent — three wins and a draw from their last five — and with Romelu Lukaku in red-hot form, it could be a tough afternoon for the City defence.

Cardiff v Newcastle

City of Cardiff Stadium, 3pm, Saturday

A pretty uninspiring game (unless you need one of these two to get your accumulator up). Cardiff have done really well with a tough run of fixtures. Even though they have lost their last two games, Newcastle have been scoring goals; French striker Loic Remy has three in two.

Fulham v Stoke

Craven Cottage, 3pm, Saturday

15th plays 18th in another one for the purists. Fulham haven’t won since the opening day of the season and while Stoke aren’t much better on the points front, they have put up decent showings against Liverpool, City and Arsenal.

Hull v Aston Villa

KC Stadium, 3pm, Saturday

It seems strange to describe Hull v Villa as one of the weekend’s more attractive fixtures but that’s exactly what this is. No Robbie Brady for Hull — he’s off for a hernia op — and Christian Benteke’s absence for Villa takes a little bit of the sheen off it. Hull haven’t lost at home yet this season. Just sayin’.

Liverpool v Crystal Palace

Anfield, 3pm, Saturday

Every time you look at a Liverpool fixture and think “this could be a massacre,” it inevitably ends in a scoreless draw. This could be a massacre.

Sunderland v Manchester United

St Mary’s, 5.30pm, Saturday

Sunderland are rooted to the bottom of the table but they weren’t completely awful when they lost 3-1 to Liverpool last week. Still, if United don’t win here by a couple, the crisis talk is only going to get louder.

Norwich v Chelsea

Carrow Road, 1.30pm, Sunday

Chelsea have won five of their last six against Norwich and they looked to have finally found their goalscoring touch when they put four past Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League in midweek. That’s good enough for us.

Southampton v Swansea

Stadium of Light, 1.30pm, Sunday

A wise man once told us that when two teams start with the same letter, you should back a draw. It’s pretty unscientific logic but by tomorrow afternoon, all of our well-reasoned predictions will probably look just as silly.

White Hart Lane, 4pm, Sunday

Tottenham look gooooood; West Ham, to be blunt, don’t.

West Brom v Arsenal

There’s no denying that Arsenal have been seriously impressive so far this season but this is a tricky one. West Brom are no mugs — just ask David Moyes — and they are unbeaten in their last four in all competitions.
