Premier League preview: how to fill out your football accumulator this weekend

Arsenal take on Everton tomorrow while Chelsea are away to Stoke.

Manchester United v Newcastle United

Old Trafford, 12.45pm, Saturday

Manchester United could be without Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie for the lunchtime visit of Newcastle to Old Trafford.

Rooney picked up his fifth booking of the season so a suspension will see him sit this one out while  it remains unclear whether Dutchman Van Persie will be fit to feature due to recent groin and toe problems. First choice midfielder Michael Carrick is also still on the injury list.

Currently a point behind the Magpies in ninth after the midweek defeat to his former club Everton, David Moyes knows United need to start picking up more wins, especially at home.

Newcastle arrive on the back of a 3-0 loss to Swansea which ended a run of four straight wins.

Bet: Manchester United @ 4/7

Crystal Palace v Cardiff

Selhurst Park, 3pm, Saturday

Crystal Palace picked up a much-needed victory over West Ham on Tuesday but Tony Pulis will have to add a couple more to that if the Eagles are to haul themselves out of the bottom three.

Fellow newly-promoted club Cardiff are four points better off but, with only one win from their last eight, know they could soon find themselves in the drop zone too.

Bet: Draw @ 9/4

Liverpool v West Ham

Anfield, 3pm, Saturday

It was all about Luis Suarez during Liverpool’s demolition of Norwich during the week as the striker single-handedly tore the Canaries to shreds with four of his side’s five goals.

Much will be made of the fact that his native Uruguay have been drawn with England at next summer’s World Cup but Suarez will be more concerned with continuing his excellent goalscoring run by finding the back of the net against the Hammers for the first time from three tries.

Bet: Liverpool @ 3/10

Southampton v Manchester City

St Mary’s, 3pm, Saturday

Southampton’s superb start to the season has faltered in recent weeks and their last five games have produced four defeats and just one win. The Saints have fallen to eighth in the table and Mauricio Pochettino is without a number of first team players due to injury as they hosted in-form Manchester City.

The visitors have won their last four matches but will look to improve on away form that has seen them pick up seven points from a possible 21 on the road this term.

Bet: Manchester City @ 3/4

Stoke v Chelsea

Britannia Stadium, 3pm, Saturday

Chelsea are edging ever closer to table-toppers Arsenal and, with the Gunners not playing until tomorrow, can close the gap to within a single point.

Eden Hazard was the star of the show in the 4-3 win away to Sunderland a couple of days ago and Jose Mourinho must decide whether or not to bring the fit-again Oscar and Samuel Eto’o back into the starting XI.

After a 4-0 drubbing by Everton, Stoke earned a credible draw with Cardiff last time out but will face a sterner test to keep Chelsea at bay.

Bet:  Chelsea @ 8/13

West Brom v Norwich

The Hawthorns, 3pm, Saturday

Two teams nursing wounds from their midweek matches face off at The Hawthorns. After over-achieving last season, both West Brom and Norwich has been unable to reach the heights in the current campaign and a point separates them in the bottom half of the table.

A big defeat at the hands of Liverpool meant rumours again surfaced about the possibility of former Ireland international Chris Hughton being sacked if things down start improving fast.

Bet: West Brom @ 5/6

Sunderland v Tottenham

Stadium of Light 1.30pm, Sunday

The late game this evening sees a London club make the trip to the Stadium of Light for the second time this week as Spurs arrive in the North-East.

Still bottom of the table, the Black Cats will count themselves somewhat unlucky not have picked up a point in the 4-3 loss to Chelsea. Meanwhile, Lewis Holtby struck in the 82nd minute to earn Tottenham their first win in four but they are still a little short on goals.

Bet: Draw @ 5/2

Fulham v Aston Villa

Rene Meulensteen’s reign got off to a losing start at home to Tottenham and the ex-Manchester United first team coach will be aware he that won’t be afforded a bedding-in period as he bids to stop the rot at Craven Cottage.

Aston Villa, contrastingly, are unbeaten in five and head into the game on the back of a 3-2 win away to Southampton – despite only having 23% possession for the 90 minutes.

Bet: Draw @ 9/4

Arsenal  v Everton

The Emirates, 4pm, Sunday

Arsenal’s decision to rest a number of players against Hull paid off as Nicklas Bendtner took just 90 seconds to open the scoring, with his first of the season, before Mesut Ozil made it 2-0.

Arsene Wenger is likely to restore Olivier Giroud and Jack Wilshere to the team as they host Everton tomorrow afternoon, however.

The Toffees will be full of confidence after their 1-0 win against former manager David Moyes at Old Trafford and another three points would take them into the top four.

Bet: Arsenal @ 8/11

Swansea v Hull

Liberty Stadium 8pm, Monday

Mid-table pair Swansea and Hull lock horns on Monday night with the Welsh club buoyed by a 3-0 win over Newcastle last Wednesday.

They could be without key players in Michu and Wilfried Bony however, who both face late fitness tests. Hull couldn’t repeat their excellent win against Liverpool last Sunday and were beaten by Arsenal three days later.

Bet: Swansea @3/4
