Here's why Premier League games will kick off seven minutes late this weekend

The 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster will be remembered at grounds across England today and tomorrow.

THIS WEEKEND MARKS 25 years since the Hillsborough stadium disaster took the lives of 96 people.

Numerous tributes will be paid in Liverpool and around the world to commemorate the tragedy, which took place during an FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.

That day, the game was abandoned at 3.06pm and the Premier League, the Football League and the Football Conference have all agreed to observe a minute silence at that time during this weekend’s fixtures before kicking off at 3.07pm.

Similarly, the matches which were due to start at other times will be seven minutes later than originally scheduled.
