Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that Paul Cuddy will come on board as a selector.

SEAMUS PLUNKETT HAS been ratified as the new manager of Laois hurlers, it has tonight been confirmed.

Plunkett has been handed a one-year deal, while Paul Cuddy is also on board as a selector.

Plunkett and Cuddy had originally been part of a sub-committee tasked with finding a replacement for Teddy McCarthy, who stepped down from the position in August following disappointing defeats to Dublin and Limerick.

Meanwhile, Pat Critchley has agreed to take charge of the minor team, following Plunkett’s promotion to the senior position.
