Pipped to the post: Disappointment for Rooney as his horse finishes last at Carlisle

It marks the latest chapter in Wayne’s disappointing foray into the world of horse ownership.

WAYNE ROONEY MAY have more footballing talent in his left earlobe than his boss Alex Ferguson ever possessed, but when it comes to the nags he’s not a patch on the Manchester United manager.

Rooney’s horse Pippy finished last in its run at Carlisle on Monday, hanging badly left under the guidance of Tom Eaves.

In a race claimed by the 18-1 shot Lady Ibrox, Pippy looked unsuited to the course in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E.B.F. Maiden Stakes, having also proven wayward in the Lily Agnes Conditions Stakes at Chester.

Wayne and Colleen Rooney own another two-year-old in the their partnership with Tom Dascombe, Tomway, who has only beaten three horses to the finish line in two starts.

Meanwhile, Michael Owen made a bad situation worse for Rooney when he tweeted of the success of his horse, which he co-owns with a who’s-who of Manchester United players past and present.

But not Rooney.
