Aspas turned provider on 60 minutes when he found Steven Gerrard, who calmly chipped home his side’s third. Three minutes later and Luis Suarez entered the fray. The Uruguayan headed an effort off the crossbar on 67 minutes.

Thai goalkeeper Sinthaweechai Hathairattanakool kept the scoreline respectable and Gerrard was denied by the crossbar at the death. Rodgers will be delighted with his team’s display and the fact that Suarez is back pitching in for the Red cause, despite interest from Arsenal and real Madrid.
