IT HASN’T BEEN a good week for fashion in the world of football punditry. On Sky during the midweek games Phil Thompson wore a jacket that was an affront to the eyes. Apparently it was for charity, which is good on Phil’s part but if a few bob would have spared us from this monstrosity, we should have done a whip-round.
Not to be outdone by his Sky rival, Alan Shearer popped up during tonight’s FA Cup coverage dressed like a sherpa who is about to guide someone up Everest.
Obviously a BBC producer burst into the meeting during the week and said ‘If Sky think they are the only channel that can kit their pundits out in ostentatiously ugly jackets, they are wrong, baby!’.
At least the worst we usually have to contend with from our pundits is a rogue, tieless Eamon Dunphy.
What was worse: Phil Thompson's ghastly blazer or Alan Shearer's Himalayan parka?

Without being too hyperbolic, this goat is definitely a better keeper than Simon Mignolet
Louis van Gaal might be the most easily disgusted man on the planet
