PHIL MICKELSON HAS played from some tricky lies in his time, and he was tested again at the Barclays yesterday when his tee shot went awry — and ended up in a hospitality tent.
Mickelson’s drive on the short par-four fifth took an unfortunate hop off a cart path and ended up among the spectators in the posh seats.
Rather than take a drop, Mickelson tried his luck but ended up in a greenside bunker before taking two putts for bogey.
He said: “It wasn’t hard to make contact. It was hard to hit it on that skinny little green and get it to stop.”

He finished with a one-over par round of 72 which was just enough to make the cut for the weekend.
