Although a fourth-place finish in this evening’s 200m semi-final wasn’t enough to progress to the final, Healy’s 23.23 placed her 11th overall at the end of a breakthrough season for the 23-year-old.
“I’m really happy with that overall with four races in such a short space of time,” said Healy afterwards.
“It’s my third fastest time ever so I’m happy to produce that. I’ve the relay [4x100m] to come so hopefully things go well for that. The girls have been practising baton changes all week.”
Healy and the Irish team will compete in lane three in heat two at 5.38pm on Sunday, while Cian McManamon (Westport) and Alex Wright (Leevale) are the next Irish in action in the men’s 20km race walk on Saturday morning at 9.55am.
