Irish out-half Peter Lydon tries to recruit Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a second row

The Kilkenny native, who is off to London Scottish next season, met Ibrahimovic in Paris this morning.

TWO SPORTSMEN IN their prime and making a success of it in Paris; it was inevitable that Peter Lydon and Zlatan Ibrahimovic would eventually cross paths.

The Kilkenny native, who plays out-half with Stade Français, met Paris Saint Germain and Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Paris this morning. Lydon will join up with London Scottish in the summer and was delighted he got to meet the Swedish great — and scorer of ridiculous overhead kicks — before he decamped from the French capital.

Lydon joked that 6ft 5in Ibrahimovic would make a good second row if he ever took up rugby. With Sweden out of the World Cup this summer, Ibra may well take Lydon up on the suggestion.

Lydon will be hoping to feature in Stade’s Rugby Champions Cup playoff with Wasps later this month. The winner of the clash between the Premiership and Top 14′s seventh place sides will determine the final place in European rugby’s elite club competition next season.
