YESTERDAY’S ALL-IRELAND senior hurling semi-final certainly didn’t lack drama, but one moment stood out above the rest.
Following their 1-30 to 1-30 extra-time draw at Croke Park, Clare and Galway will have to meet again in Thurles next Sunday for the right to play Limerick or Cork in this year’s decider.
If they get their hands on the Liam MacCarthy Cup on 19 August, Clare might cast their minds back to the 64th minute of yesterday’s game to identify a decisive moment of magic.

Peter Duggan has had a brilliant year for the Banner County, which continued with a 14-point contribution to their latest outing, earning him RTÉ’s man-of-the-match award.
With just over six minutes of normal time remaining, the Clooney-Quin forward was nearly 50 metres out from the Galway goal when he collected a pass on the right wing.
Eight seconds later, Duggan was sending the ball over the bar from just outside the 13-metre line after an incredible solo run.
He somehow managed to dig out a score to level the game, despite the close attention of four Galway defenders; despite having to bat the sliotar off the sod to retain possession; despite being off balance; despite a narrow angle; despite having to strike on the volley.
A remarkable display of determination, athleticism and — above all — skill.

Incredulous, RTÉ commentator Ger Canning asked: “HOW DID HE DO THAT?”
Nearly 15 hours and about 200 viewings later, we’re still trying to figure it out, Ger.
Roll on next Sunday for the replay!
