The Pep Guardiola rumour roadshow stops off at Bayern Munich

The German club are keeping ‘ruhig’ about the whole deal but could be about to out-fox Chelsea and Man City.

FOLLOWING THE WEEKEND announcement from Roma director Franco Baldini that he met Pep Guardiola for ‘a friendly chat’ in New York, Germany is the latest destination linked with the former Barca coach.

Guardiola has been linked with Chelsea, Brazil, AC Milan, both Manchester clubs and Roma in recent weeks but Bayern Munich have emerged as the latest suitors.

Jupp Heynckes is in contract talks with Bayern about about extending his time as coach but rumours are rife that Guardiola could be sounding out the four-time European Cup winners.

Germany’s ‘tz’ has reported that Guardiola’s agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, was spotted in Munich.

German site Sportal have also trumpeted the news, using Sky Italia as their reliable source.

They write that Bayern’s footballing traditions will beat out the wads of cash being offered by the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.

As for the meeting between Baldini and Guardiola in America, the Italian said, “I got to know a fantastic person like him and am keeping this friendship alive.

“I was in New York for work and was able to meet him for a friendly chat.”

Two football lovers finding common ground in the hectic maelstrom of downtown Manhattan. It warms the heart.
