CATHAL PENDRED APPEARS to be taking the Donald Cerrone approach to his mixed martial arts career and that’s absolutely fine with us.
Having just picked up his fourth consecutive Ultimate Fighting Championship win last weekend, the Irish welterweight wants to fight again in nine days’ time.
According to a reports, a visa issue may force Erick Silva to withdraw from his 27 June bout against Rick Story in Florida, which is scheduled to feature at The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 4 finale.

The UFC have so far declined to comment, but should that be the case, they’ll need to find a replacement welterweight opponent for Story on short notice.
However, Pendred has taken to Twitter to offer his services. After his victorious UFC debut last July in Dublin, the 27-year-old says he’s looking to become the first fighter to win five fights within their first year with the promotion.

16 ww in action next 5 wks. I'll step in if any1 pulls. I'd become the only active @UFC fighter to win his 1st 5 fights in less than a year.
Pendred overcame Augusto Montano last Saturday in Mexico City, adding to his previous wins in the octagon against Sean Spencer, Gasan Umalatov and Mike King.
A 5-0 run in the space of a year is a rare occurrence in the UFC, although it has recently been accomplished by lightweight Donald Cerrone, who defeated John Makdessi last month to pick up his eighth victory in 18 months.
If Pendred does get the call-up to face Story it would represent the toughest fight of his career so far — particularly with such little time to prepare — but it would also offer the Dubliner an opportunity to exact revenge on behalf of one of his team-mates.
Story’s most recent outing saw him beat SBG’s Gunnar Nelson in the main event at UFC Fight Night 53 in Stockholm last October.
