Kop idol: Will Liverpool fans be singing Paulinho's name next season? EMPICS Sport

A 17-year-old from the Portuguese third division is set to be Liverpool's next signing

Paulinho is on Merseyside to complete a medical.

TEENAGER PAULINHO IS set to undergo a medical with Liverpool as he looks to complete a move to Anfield.

The 17-year-old, who currently plays for Portuguese third-tier outfit Sanjoanense, has travelled to Merseyside with his father to agree a contract with Brendan Rodgers’ side.

On the completion of the deal, the youngster will return to Portugal to complete his campaign with Sanjoanense before joining up with the Premier League club ahead of next season.

In a statement on their website, Sanjoanense said: “Sanjoanense informs that, after many months of negotiations, they have reached an agreement with Liverpool for the transfer, outright, of Paulo Alves Paulinho.

“The agreement comes after a period of testing at the legendary English club, which met the expectations of his parents.

“It should be formalised in the coming days, with the player allowed to travel to Liverpool in the company of his father.”

Remember that sitter James Rodriguez missed last night… well look again

Nothing too spectacular about it, but Miller is a quality technically gifted player, pity he didn’t stay in cork for what could be a special year

Liam Miller never done too much while playing for Cork City.
I always got the impression that he had the attitude that he was too good to be playing for City.
Glad to see the back of him.

He had a good season at Sunderland under Roy keane. The start was a disaster and it looked like Sunderland would get relegated. Then keano arrived and sensationally they won the league. What a season that was. They really did come back from the brink.

If he had have stayed at Celtic for a year or two develop a bit more he could have been real quality. Cant blame him for moving when he did though.

I’m sorry but Miller added noting to the City team, always passed sideways or backwards and never looked to get forward, was not sorry to see him leave
