PAUL O’CONNELL WAS voted IRUPA player of the year last night, to add to his 101 Ireland caps, 7 Lions test appearances, three Six Nations crowns and two Heineken Cups.
That is a spectacular resume but the Rugby HQ show on FOX Sports in Australia have bestowed an even greater accolade on the Ireland captain.

You can’t underestimate how much gravitas that Paul O’Connell has brought to Irish redheads, and it is great to see him recognised for that in this all-time ginger XV.
They went for a few lesser known Aussies but most rugby fans will be familiar with Springboks John Smit and Jannie de Beer (scorer of FIVE drop goals against England at the 1999 World Cup).
Welsh redheads Neil Jenkins and Martyn Williams also made the cut, but there is no question who the flaming cornerstone of the team is:
Paul Jeremiah Zeus* O’Connell.
