Did Roy Keane scorch the earth at Aston Villa? Paul Lambert denies it

Lambert says the reports about Keane’s Villa exit are untrue.

AFTER ROY KEANE left his position as Aston Villa assistant manager, there were a number of stories doing the rounds that Keane’s fiery temperament had once again got the better of him.

Apparently, the reason for his exit was the increasingly deteriorating relationship between Keane and Villa’s ‘star’ players.

One contentious incident between Keane and midfielder Fabian Delph apparently ended with Delph telling Keane, ‘Don’t try to f**king mug me off’.

But Villa boss Paul Lambert has played down these reports, saying they are untrue.

“I find it bizarre,” Lambert said to the Daily Mirror.

“They guy was great for me and great for everyone at the football club. So for me this is all absolute nonsense what has been written about him, absolute nonsense.”

In situations like this, it is Keane’s previous record that counts against him.

It is very easy to believe that he would be run out of Villa Park because he was overly critical of underperforming Villa players.
