PAUL INCE HAS hit out at Jesse Lingard’s decision to start his own clothing line, suggesting that the player is “everything that’s wrong at Manchester United”.
The England international drew United level during Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield, but has come in for widespread criticism after choosing to launch his own fashion brand, ‘JLingz’, in the run-up to the match.
Writing in a column for Paddy Power, Ince lambasted the 26-year-old for his attitude, and suggested that, given United’s current plight, the midfielder should prioritise his football more.
He said: “All we see on social media is his new clothing line, his dancing, trips to Las Vegas and Miami. In reality, he’s scored two goals all season.
“A player in his position has only managed two goals – but still has his own goal celebration?
“There are plenty of things you can do outside of football, like taking coaching badges, doing a degree, learning a language.
You don’t need to make your own clothing brand as though you are one of the best stars in the world.
“He needs to remember who he is.
“He’s come a long way since he couldn’t get in the Derby side (where he was on loan in the 2014-15 season). Besides, the way he plays, who would want to wear his clothing range anyway?
“I hate saying it – but he wouldn’t have got away with it in my time. These players, when they come to United and want to be successful, should take a look at how the proper players conducted themselves.
“If you’re top of the table and you’ve got three Premier League title winner’s medals, a Champions League winner’s medal et cetera, then you can go and create your clothing brand. But he’s not.
He’s a prime example of everything that’s wrong at Manchester United.”
The Red Devils now lie sixth in the Premier League table, 11 points off fourth-placed Chelsea.

Ince is spot on as well many of these modern day footballers care more about their social media image than they do football United need a huge clearout starting with Mourhino and about 8 of the overpaid prima donnas.
“He needs to remember who he is.” – jeeeesus if a white pundit said that!!!
@Kevin Heaney: I dont think it would be a big issue if a roy keane said it. Clearly talking about his football performance and not his skin colour.
@Kevin Heaney: …what? He’s a young working class lad from Manchester & he’d do well to remember that, nothing racist or wrong with that, until you came along
@Kevin Heaney: looking for racism when there is none is only adding to the problem. Eejit.
@Kevin Heaney: troll.
@Nicholas Ryan: I actually thought the same thing myself. We’ve been conditioned to think that after the Raheem Sterling stuff.
I’m not a fan of United but I think this guy is taking an unnecessary kicking recently. He’s average enough and does seem a bit of a pleb but so what. There’s no point harping back to “ah you wouldn’t get away with that in my day” nonsense. I’m sure the previous generation to Ince weren’t that impressed with his silly celebrations with Giggs or walking out to the pitch with your top off showing off your muscles before every game. Lingard probably shouldn’t be drawing attention to himself releasing a clothing line before a big game but equally nothing would be said about him if United were playing well. He’s a easy target.
@Gareth Keenan: yeah and poe
@Gareth Keenan: yeah and people forget 20/30 years ago alot of players spent there time drinking.
I never really liked Ince. But he is bang on, in this case.
From the self styled guvnor.
Ince is just repeating what Gary Neville and Roy Keane said about him on Sunday!
@Brian O Connell: no they didn’t. Th eye said they didn’t think the timing of the clothes release was good with the upcoming match. Neill went out of his way to say he had no problem with Lingard releasing a clothes line as he should have interests outside football.
Disagree with Ince. Lingard is one of the hardest working players on the United team. Though he does a lot off the pitch, he backs it up by giving his all every weekend.
@EK: it’s during the week he’s probably not giving his all
It’s weird how most of the footballers who do this kind of thing come from the likes of United and PSG (Big money clubs)
@Ollie Watson: come on ollie. Your a pool fan. Utd and liverpool have always generated their own money. Lets not put utd into the psg, city bracket.
Not a fan of Lingard at all to be honest but that Ince is a ballbag
Lingard, Pogba and that ilk are everything I despise about modern day football. They care more about their stupid videos on social media and their hairstyles, than they do about their football. The two boys laughing and joking in every video they release, while simultaneously being part of the worst United team in 30 years. Thentiu hear their interviews and it’s clear they haven’t a brain cell to burn.
Whoever is the next United manager should ban all players from social media. That’s after he ships out the two jokers above in January.
