The 23-year-old, who is making his PGA Tour debut this week, followed up his opening round 69 with a one-under-par 71 yesterday to head into the weekend in a tie for 18th.

Playing on the back of a sponsor’s invite, Dunne hit the ground running on Thursday but showed all his tenacity to finish strongly last night to ensure he made the cut after a blip on the back nine.
The Wicklowman suffered bogies on the 10th and 12th and a bad finish could have proved costly but instead he rallied to card a birdie-eagle finish on the 17th and 18th to stay in touch with the leaders.
That lead is held by KJ Choi, who is chasing his first win in five years, at Torrey Pines. The South Korean fired a five-under-par round of 67 on Friday to seize a share of the lead with American Gary Woodland.
Shane Lowry joined Dunne in making the cut with a second successive round of 71, which sees him lie on two-under-par for the tournament.
But there were several big name casualties in San Diego with Jason Day and Phil Mickelson both failing to make the cut.
Day became the first defending champion at the Farmers Insurance Open to not make the cut since 2003, but was joined by Mickelson after he carded bogeys on the last three holes.
Dunne will play alongside Brendan Steele and Patton Kizzire on Saturday while Lowry is in a group with Americans James Hahn and Martin Piller.
