IRISH JOCKEY PAUL Carberry has brought the curtain down on a brilliant career after announcing his retirement today.

The 42 year-old Meath native has made the decision after consulting with his surgeon. He has not ridden competitively since last September due to a leg injury.
In 1999 Carberry won the Grand National on Bobbyjo, trained by his father Tommy.
He was twice a Champion Jockey in Ireland in 2001-02 and 2002-03.

In total Carberry claimed 14 winners at the prestigious Cheltenham Festival, starting out in 1993 with the Champion Bumper on board Rhythm Section and his most recent winner was in 2014 with Very Wood in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle.
In April 2015 Carberry won the Gold Cup at the Punchestown Festival when he rode Don Cossack to victory.
