Patriots pound Ryan's sorry Jets

Watch Tom Brady take the Jets to school with a record-breaking display. And he gets to go home to Gisele afterward.

WE DIDN’T SEE this one coming.

The New England Patriots ran in six touchdowns last night as they thrashed the New York Jets 45-3 to take control of the AFC East division.

On a night when he showed Jets counterpart Mark Sanchez who’s boss, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw four touchdown passes as his side moved to 10-2.

Brady, who also broke Brett Favre’s record of 25 successive regular-season wins at home, said afterwards:

We couldn’t afford to lose to them again. If you want to win your division you can’t lose to the same team twice.

They’re a good team, but it wasn’t their day. It was our day.

Pats boss Bill Belichick’s side said:

It was a really great effort by our players. I’m really proud of them. That was the best 60 minutes of football we played all year.

Outspoken Jets coach Rex Ryan made sure he was nothing but complimentary when talking about Belichick in the build-up to last night’s meeting. And he was humbled after the rout:

They outcoached us and they outplayed us.

He needs to get back making speeches like this. [NSFW - language]
