DUNDALK STRIKER PATRICK Hoban has been rewarded for his recent form with the SSE Airtricity League/Soccer Writerโs Association of Ireland (SWAI) Player of the Month for June.
The 26-year-old hit five goals last month for the Lilywhites, who sit top of the league. That brings Hobanโs tally to 21 in 25 outings as he holds the title of top scorer in the Premier Division.
The Galway native has impressed since returning from England last November for a second spell at Oriel Park. In his first installment, he finished joint-top of the League of Ireland goalscoring charts in 2014 and was key as Dundalk won the Premier Division.
And so far, so good this season for Hoban, itโs going to plan.
He beat team-mate Robbie Benson and Corkโs Kieran Sadlier to the Player of the Month award this time around, after last winning it in October 2014.
โItโs great,โ he said. โThe gaffer [Stephen Kenny] told me on Sunday, and itโs a good feeling to win one.
โI didnโt expect to have as many goals at this time in the season, especially as I didnโt get a pre-season into me [due to injury].
โPersonally, it means that youโre doing something right but it also shows the whole team are working well together.
โWeโre scoring goals and and winning football matches, and that comes from the team around you.โ
