Poll: Should Clare play Patrick Donnellan as a sweeper tomorrow?

The Banner are getting set to face Cork tommorrow. But how should their defence line up?

CLAREโ€™S PATH TO the All-Ireland senior hurling final saw them claim the scalps of Galway and Limerick.

Those victories in the All-Ireland quarter-final and semi-final were helped by the success of their sweeper tactic with captain Pat Donnellan performing the role expertly.

But in their recent drawn All-Ireland decider against Cork, Clare opted to a revert to a traditional formation with their six defenders going man-to-man with the Rebels attack.

Cork went on to bag three key goals in the second-half and Clare needed Domhnall Oโ€™Donovanโ€™s priceless last point to tie the teams.

Now ahead of tomorrowโ€™s replay, we want to hear what you think and whether Clare should place Donnellan as a sweeper.

Poll Results:

No - They dominated the drawn game for long stages while going man for man at the back. (249)
Yes - It will help shore up their defence and limit the goalscoring opportunities that Cork get. (97)
