Flying the Irish Flag

Representing Team Ireland on Day 2 of the Games are seven athletes — starting with tandem para-cyclists Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal in the Individual Kilo B final at 2pm.

Swimmer Nicole Turner is next up in the S6 50m Fly heats at 2pm, before Jason Smyth looks to secure a third successive Olympic gold in the 100m T13 final at 3.09pm.

There’s more cycling with Colin Lynch in the C2 Individual Pursuit qualifiers (3.42pm) and possibly the final if he’s successful (10.08pm), then Eoghan Clifford goes off in the C3 Indiv Pursuit Quals (4.15pm).

And Rena McCarron Rooney is in action in the Table Tennis SF1-2 Singles qualifiers (3.40pm &  10.35pm).

 The best of the rest

In athletics, we’ve got a raft of finals in the various categories of the men’s and women’s 100m and 400ms throughout the afternoon, as well as javelin throw, discuss throw, club throw and high jump (see full schedule here).

Hosts Brazil take to the field against Morocco in the men’s five-a-side football (1pm), while Spain play China (3pm) and Turkey meet Iran (8pm).

There’s also goalball (1pm), shooting (1.30pm), wheelchair tennis (1pm) and wheelchair basketball (1am) .

This should be good too…

We’ve got powerlifting in the men’s -54kg Group A (5pm), -59kg Group A (8pm) and women’s -45kg Group A (2pm).
