Panama player attacks manager over substitution

It certainly puts Diego Costa’s tantrum in perspective.

A PANAMA CLUB footballer has put Diego Costa’s bib-throwing incident into perspective with a physical attack on his coach after being substituted.

Manuel ‘El Cholo’ Torres, a midfielder for Plaza Amado and the Panamanian national team, was withdrawn in a Panama Cup qualifier against Arabe Unido, which they lost 2-0.

On leaving the field, Torres refused to shake his manager’s hand before throwing a cup of water at his boss.

And he didn’t leave it there – after the game a furious Torres confronted his manager, Juan Carlos Garcia, over his substitution. This led to a heated argument which resulted in Torres getting physical.

Club president Gian Castillero said the board would investigate the matter and determine a suitable punishment – likely to be an immediate sacking for Flores.

Spain international Costa came in for criticism last weekend for his reaction to being dropped which culminated in him throwing his bib at Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, much to the enjoyment of team-mate John Obi Mikel.
