If the GAA accept that Cork is not an ideal venue for Wexford v Waterford because of extra travel costs & potential traffic congestion & should be Nowlan Pk, than why not offer a sweetner. Why not reduce the ticket prices especially as there is no other scheduled game unlike the the other qtr final which has a minor wtr final scheduled. Demonstrate by action & not words the sincerity of the statement.
@Philip Duggan:
Ah get over yourself with your pathetic whinging. It’s not a far journey for either county. It’s very convenient for Waterford for starters. Wexford is further but they’re not exactly been sent to Donegal. Some people need to get a life.
@Kieran Lynch: it’s probably much the same distance for Clare fans travelling to Cork as it is for Wexford fans. What’s the big deal?
@Sloop John G: the problem is all the Wexford fans have to pass through Waterford too which will lead to huge congestion problems. Makes no sense with the stadiums in more suitable locations available.
Disgraceful that the Cork county board accepted for the Cork footballers to be playing in Limerick at the same time the first game is played in the new Pairc. Cork footballers, second class citizens in their own county.
@John Arne Riise: round 4 is neutral venues, galway and donegal is on in sligo.
Your point isnt too far off the mark though, even when they were very good up to a few years ago, never really had the same support.
Tickets sales @gaatickets.ie are a shambles. Release time of hurling quarter final tickets only announced at the last minute so it was impossible to plan ahead & book ticket at the earliest opportunity. Zero transparency- There’s never a seating plan showing what’s sold & allowing you to choose from the remaining seats as per ticket master. It is designed to create a frenzy. There is no way of telling if the tickets being offered are the best available or if tickets in more central sections of the stand are being held back until the tickets for the end sections have been off loaded. It’s a deceitful way of treating supporters
Why in soccer, darts, rugby etc, a quarter final contains 8 teams. Here, we have 4. What’s going on or am I missing something?! Yes I know Galway and Cork are in the semis
@Ryan: It’s the round before the semi-final. Not a whole lot more to it than that. Naturally, most competitions would have a lot more competitors/teams, and would be able to put the top eight into a straight QF/SF/F bracket, but the GAA have incentivised the Provincial Championships by promoting the winners straight through to the Semi-Finals. The winners of the Quarter Finals play them.
Cannot understand why Tipp v Clare is not on in The Gaelic Grounds. Surely its a no-brainer to hold the game in Limerick.
Whats the thought process behind dragging both teams down to Cork?
