PADRAIG HARRINGTON CARDED a superb four-under-par 67 for his opening round at the Genesis Open in California.
The Dubliner is in a share of fifth place and three shots behind current leader Sam Saunders.
While there was plenty of consistency on the front nine and a birdie at the seventh, Harrington played some great golf on the back nine and birdied at 10 before three-in-a-row at 16, 17 and 18. In the entire round, he dropped just one shot.
There’s other Irish interest too with Shane Lowry and Graeme McDowell just getting their respective first rounds underway in Pacific Palisades.
