Irish contingent hit the ground running in Turkey as Harrington sits one off the lead

Paul Dunne and Shane Lowry also enjoyed solid opening rounds at the 2017 Turkish Airlines Open.

DUBLINER PADRAIG HARRINGTON has gotten off to a strong start at the 2017 Turkish Airlines Open.

He’s just one shot off the lead following an opening round of 65.

Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts, South Africa’s Haydn Porteous and Joos Luiyen of the Netherlands share the top spot, while Argentina’s Andres Romero joins Harrington on six-under.

The 46-year-old enjoyed a successful day on the Antalya course, shooting six birdies and par on the rest.

Greystones native Paul Dunne is right up there too after a round of 67, just one bogey on the 17th blemishing his card.

Shane Lowry is also in action, and put down a solid day. The Offaly man carded a three-under par 68. Like Dunne, there was one late blotch on his copybook — a bogey on the 18th.
