Pádraig Harrington eyes extended break from golf

The three-time major winner says he’s ‘completely over-golfed at this very moment’.

PÁDRAIG HARRINGTON IS eyeing an extended break from golf after complaining of “staleness”.

The Irishman is competing in the Grand Slam of Golf Title in Bermuda, having recorded just one top-five finish this season.   Harrington, a three-time major winner, is looking to take a period out of the game in order to regain his sharpness.

“I’ve just played probably too many events and I feel it’s time for a break,” he said after shooting a first-round 74 in Bermuda. “It’s just pure staleness in the game. I’ve just overplayed.

“Already in my head, (I have) pulled out of another two events during the winter to give me a long winter break. It will be probably the longest winter break I’ve taken since I won my majors. There’s not a shadow of a doubt that I’m completely over-golfed at this very moment.”
