Paddy McGuinness had to take his toothbrush out to clean Emile Heskey's boots

The comedian stayed true to his word after Tweet backfires.

LIFELONG BOLTON FAN and comedian Paddy McGuinness was as surprised as the rest of us when the club signed veteran striker Emile Heskey.

On Boxing Day, McGuinness – with the Trotters trailing 1-0 to local rivals Blackburn – tweeted that he would personally clean Heskey’s boots if the 36-year-old managed to come off the bench and score.

And, predictably, the former Liverpool hitman did just that to earn Neil Lennon’s side a point.

Yesterday, McGuinness stayed true to his word and headed down to Bolton’s training ground to give Heskey’s boots a scrub ahead of today’s FA Cup tie against Wigan.

Heskey played an hour as Bolton won 1-0 thanks to 19-year-old Zach Clough’s first goal for the club.

The striker signed a short-term deal with the Championship club before Christmas after spending two years Down Under with the Newcastle Jets.

McGuinness’ tactics worked so well that he stated he would clean all of Heskey’s washing, including his underpants, if he scored every week.
