Otago come up with a beauty of a set-piece try in the ITM Cup

Fa’asiu Fuatai finished off a clever move from the New Zealand side after a line-out attack.

THERE AREN’T MANY better feelings in rugby than the joy of pulling off a perfectly-executed set-piece starter play and scoring directly on phase one.

Otago got a taste of that pleasure over the weekend during their 28-14 victory against North Harbour in the first round of the ITM Cup, the New Zealand provincial competition that is usually well worth a watch.

Fa’asiu Fuatai was the man to dot down, but we loved the deception from second-five-eighth Teihorangi Walden in midfield to create the opening. Otago are top of the Championship table of the ITM Cup after the first round.
