DAN BIGGAR BECAME the first man in Welsh regional rugby to pass 2,000 points as he helped the Ospreys to a 19-9 Guinness Pro12 victory over the Scarlets this evening.
The Wales out-half kicked 14 of his side’s tally at the Liberty Stadium — the other five coming courtesy of a penalty try — to move the Ospreys second, two points behind leaders Munster.
The Scarlets came into the derby clash having won seven successive matches in this competition and led 9-6 at the interval thanks to Rhys Patchell’s three penalties to Biggar’s two in a half which saw the visitors’ Rob Evans yellow-carded for a high tackle.
The Ospreys applied pressure in the second period and the Scarlets saw Will Boyde sin-binned for illegally halting a lineout drive which led to the hosts’ penalty try.

Biggar converted and then added two more penalties in the final 20 minutes — either side of Steffan Evans receiving a third yellow for the Scarlets — to help the Ospreys seal a comfortable win.
