Heartwarming scenes as brave Skerries teenager meets Chelsea heroes

Oran Tully, who suffers from a rare bowel problem, will be the star of the show on Sky Sport’s My Special Day programme tomorrow.

SKERRIES TEENAGER ORAN TULLY will be the star of a Christmas Day programme on Sky Sports.

Tully has been a regular visitor to Crumlin Children’s Hospital over the past decade but was guest of honour at Stamford Bridge last month. The 14-year-old was invited along to Chelsea’s Champions League clash with Schalke and watched his heroes win 3-0.

Tully, who suffers from a rare bowel problem, has been supporting Chelsea since 2007 and is featured in Sky Sports’ My Special Day. As part of the series, which runs each Christmas, children battling illness are given the opportunity to meet their sporting idols.

The young Dubliner was the guest of Chelsea captain John Terry on the day of the game and enjoyed a kickabout on the Stamford Bridge pitch hours before the Londoners’ European tie. Following the game, Tully got to meet all of the Chelsea players and tennis star Rafael Nadal, who was at the game cheering on fellow countrymen Juan Mata, Fernando Torres and César Azpilicueta.

Check out his excellent reaction to getting Mata’s signed jersey:
