Open thread: what did you take of Ireland's performance against Oman last night?

It was comfortable for the Boys in Green in London but there’s plenty for Trap to ponder. What did you make of it?

IT WAS A meaningless friendly. It was in a neutral ground. And the opposition were ranked 93rd in the world.

But what did you make of Ireland’s win over Oman at Craven Cottage last night?

A new-look Irish side looked impressive going forward at times with Shane Long, Kevin Doyle and debutant Robbie Brady scoring in the first half. While fellow new boy Alex Pearce nodded in one of his own in the final five minutes or so in London.

Sunderland midfielder David Meyler held his own as he was paired with James McCarthy in midfield while Everton’s Seamus Coleman featured at full back: though he may be blamed for his part in the Oman goal.

And James McClean trotted on for the final 30 minutes to put the weekend’s Twitter debacle behind him.

All in all, an interesting night for manager Giovanni Trapattoni down by the Thames.

But what did you make of it? Let us know in the comments section below.
