Open thread: have the gods of the draw been kind to Ireland?

Ireland have been drawn alongside Spain, Italy and Croatia for Euro 2012. Join us in our open thread to thrash out the questions that really matter this evening.

NOW WE KNOW.

After sitting through what seemed like days of cossack dancing, cheesy Europop and montages, Ireland have been drawn against Spain, Italy and Croatia for next summer’s European Championships.

Trap and the boys in green are in Group C, which means a trip to the Polish cities of Poznan and Gdansk for you and your credit union branch manager to mull over first thing on Monday morning.

So the die is cast and the countdown to Euro 2012 can begin in earnest — only 190ish sleeps to go. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, there’s still a lot to be discussed this evening.

How are you feeling now that you know our opponents next summer? Have you thrown in the towel completely? Or are you already prepping the design for your commemorative ”Euro 2012 Champions” tattoo?

And how about travel plans? Does this evening’s draw make your more or less likely to dust off the old Euro 88 jersey and head to Poland? Or are you going to sit this one out and watch it at home?

And if you’re going, when are you going to start booking flights and accommodation?

These are all very important questions. The floor is open for your comments, questions, thoughts and suggestions. Let’s get cracking.
