*UPDATE*

We have contacted the winner, Shane Kelly, whose score of -18 from Mark Leishmann, Branden Grace and Matt Kuchar took the prize.

Thanks to everyone for taking part.

SO YOU THINK you know your golf?

Here’s your chance to prove it and win a goody bag packed full of not-available-in-the-shops The42 gear.

All you need to do is pick a winning team of three players for this week’s Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.

To enter, post your team in the comments section before the deadline of 6.30am on Thursday, 20 July.

Entry is free but limited to one per reader/Twitter account.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Pick three players from the list below. The sum total of your three players’ odds must be at least 150/1.
  2. For example: Dustin Johnson 14/1,  Shane Lowry 60/1 and Zach Johnson 80/1 = 154.
  3. Given the volume of players in this year’s Open, we’ve limited the names below to those with odds of 150/1 or lower as of 10am on 18 June.
  4. However, you can choose anyone else in the field at 200/1 odds, but you must name them in your selection.
  5. The person whose team has the lowest combined score at the end of the tournament is the winner.
  6. Importantly… if any of your three players do not make the 36-hole cut, you are eliminated from the competition. All three players must finish the tournament for your team score to be valid.
  7. If your player does not make the first tee, you will be given an alternative player at those odds (or the next highest) in alphabetical order. Once that player tees off, he is part of your team for the duration of the tournament.
  8. In the event of a tie, winners will be drawn at random.

Here are the odds:

  • Jordan Spieth – 12/1
  • Rickie Fowler – 14/1
