ONE OF THE greatest goals in World Cup history turns 17 today.

In the dying moments of the 1998 World Cup quarter-final between Argentina and Holland, Dennis Bergkamp showed masterful control following a long ball forward, before outfoxing his opponent with an immaculate second touch and shooting into the corner of the net.

This moment of genius secured a last-gasp 2-1 victory and sent the Dutch team into the World Cup semi-finals.

And it was certainly no one-off piece of brilliance, as over the course of his career, the former Arsenal player proved time and again (see below) what a special player he was.
