STEP FORWARD ANNALISE Murphy – the latest member of Team Ireland to officially book their place at next year’s Olympic Games in London.
The 21-year-old, who sails with the National Yacht club in Dun Laoghaire, is currently second in the Laser Radial discipline at the ISAF World Championships in Perth.
The 102 boats involved in the event have been split 50-50 into Gold and Silver fleets, meaning Murphy’s place at the 2012 games is guaranteed as she cannot now fall outside the top 29 nations.
ISA Performance Director James O’Callaghan, who was full of praise, said:
“It is fantastic for Annalise to have achieved qualification so early in the regatta”.
