London 2012 unveil “the daddy of all ticketing strategies”

THE TICKET PRICES for the London 2012 Olympics will range from £20.12 to £2,012 for the opening ceremony, it was announced.

The highest priced ticket for a sporting event will be £725 for the 100m men’s final with the lowest-priced ticket costing £20.

Locog, the organising committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, said that 8.8 million tickets will be made available. The bulk of those ticket will go on sale from March.

Ninety percent of tickets will be priced below £100, say Locog. The London 2012 chairman, Lord Coe, said:

“Tickets need to be affordable and accessible to as many people as possible. Tickets are an important revenue stream for us to fund the games and our ticketing plans have the clear aim of filling our venues to the rafters.”

Anyone who is under the age of 16 will only pay their age, while over-60s will play a flat rate of £16.

Prices for tickets for the Paralympics- due to be held next year- have yet to be announced.
