RONAN O’GARA HAS been ruled out of Munster’s clash against Edinburgh this weekend with a hamstring injury.

The veteran out-half sustained the blow during his side’s 22-17 defeat to Racing Metro at the Stade de France on Saturday, having scored a penalty and a conversion in a bright opening quarter of an hour.

However, O’Gara had to be replaced after 30 minutes, with Ian Keatley moving to number ten to take his place.

It is not known how serious the 35-year-old’s problem is but he will play no part on Sunday.

There was, however, better news for Rob Penney’s side as former captain Paul O’Connell reported no ill effects from his return to action last weekend and is expected to start.

Felix Jones and Ian Nagle both took part in the British and Irish Cup win over Plymouth Albion and might start against the Scottish outfit, as may Luke O’Dea and Johne Murphy.

Donncha O’Callaghan (hamstring) and Niall Ronan (groin) will train this week and undergo fitness tests to ascertain their level of availability, but Ivan Dineen (groin), James Coughlan (groin), Keith Earls (groin) and Sean Scanlon (back) are all still in the treatment room.
