13-man Offaly hang on to bring Westmeath to a replay

Both sides will meet again next Saturday to settle the tie.

Offaly 0-10

Westmeath 0-10

OFFALY AND WESTMEATH will have to do it all again to determine who will face Dublin in the Leinster semi-final.

The game finished 10 points a-piece at O’Connor Park, Tullamore, and the replay is set for next Saturday, 17 June.

Offaly may feel that they missed out, but managed to hang on for a draw, despite losing two players to dismissals.

Offaly drew first blood, but Shane Dempsey scored an impressive point from a tight angle and Ger Egan rallied Westmeath into a narrow lead.

The home side dominated for much of the first half, but the counties were level at six points a-piece at half-time.

Offaly’s Michael Brazil saw red on 58 minutes, his second yellow proving vital at the end of the day.

The home side were dealt a second blow in injury time as Ruairi Allen was also sent to the line with a second yellow card.
