O'Donovan brothers in medal contention again after semi-final win at European Championships

Gary and Paul will be in tomorrow’s medal race in Glasgow.

IRELAND COULD HAVE medal winners in the lightweight men’s double sculls for the third year in a row at the European Rowing Championships.

Gary and Paul O’Donovan finished first in their semi-final this morning in Glasgow in a time of 6:28:14.

The brothers, who won European silver last year after capturing gold in 2016, will now race for medals in tomorrow’s A final, which is scheduled for 11.30am.

Denise Walsh and Aoife Casey will compete in the B final of lightweight women’s double sculls at 10.41am tomorrow. Earlier today, heavyweight pair Mark O’Donovan and Shane O’Driscoll finished fifth in their B final.
