Aidan O’Brien ratified as new Wexford manager

The Westmeath native replaces Jason Ryan, who stepped down from the position last month.

AIDAN O’BRIEN WILL take over as Wexford senior football manager, it has been confirmed, following a county board meeting this evening.

O’Brien replaces Jason Ryan, after he stepped down following a disappointing All-Ireland campaign this year.

O’Brien, who had been widely expected to be installed in the role, oversaw Horeswood winning two county titles in a row last year.

He also helped Wexford to underage success, bringing Good Counsel College to an All-Ireland Colleges title in 1999 and the Wexford Under-21 footballers to a Leinster final in 2008.

The Westmeath native takes over on an expenses only basis, and will pick his own selectors and backroom team.
