It is understood that as many as six of the 10-person group will vote against the motion, with only chairman Barney Allen, vice chairman Conor Tormey and Central Council delegate Brendan Cummins looking certain to vote for the manager’s removal.
All executive members have a vote each. Banty will need 25 votes against the motion if he is to remain in the job and a tally of clubs at lunchtime today has revealed that he appears to have the backing of 20. Eight more have yet to reveal their intentions, but if the manager gets the votes of the five or six disaffected members of the executive he looks likely to be safe.
“There is definitely a split at the top table,” one insider told theScore earlier, “a lot of the executive have realised the motion is doomed and are looking to distance themselves from it.
“It’s far from clear-cut; however, if I was a betting man I would be backing Banty to be leading the team into the championship against Wicklow,” he added.
The Meath County Committee and its management committee meet at Páirc Tailteann. We’ll have the news as it happens this evening.
