Challenging times for Peter Stringer and Bath as Saints march on

Northampton came back from 13-6 down to win by 14 points.

NORTHAMPTON SAINTS ARE the 2014 Amlin Challenge Cup champions after beating Bath 30-16 at Cardiff Arms Park.

In a match watched by 12,483, including Jonny Sexton and Pat Lam, Bath got off to the better start and were leading 13-6 after George Ford converted Anthony Watson’s try. Stephen Myler’s penalties kept Saints in touch, however.

Peter Stringer started on the bench but was introduced as early as the 47th minute as Micky Young was withdrawn. Gavin Henson also came on for Bath but the Saints forwards were beginning to call the shots.

Myler kicked six penalties to make it 18-16 before tries from Phil Dowson and Ben Foden sealed the contest.
