Noel Hunt follows old boss Brian McDermott to Leeds

The striker has signed a two-year deal at Elland Road.

NOEL HUNT AND manager Brian McDermott will be reunited at Leeds United next season.

Hunt, 30, has agreed a two-year deal with the Championship club after his contract at Reading was allowed to expire.

As Reading’s chief scout, McDermott was instrumental in the decision to sign Hunt from Dundee United in 2008. The Waterford striker went on to score 39 goals in his five years at the Madejski Stadium and also won three senior international caps for the Republic of Ireland under Giovanni Trapattoni.

“Noel is a player that I scouted five years ago when he was playing for Dundee United,” McDermott told LeedsUnited.com today.

“We spent £500,000 on him at the time, and that was money very well spent. He’s an infectious character and I’m sure he will engage Leeds United fans with his desire and determination, and never say die attitude.

“He will bring an awful lot to our squad on and off the pitch, and I’m delighted he’s chosen to come and play for Leeds.”
