No room for Wayne Rooney in Man United team to face Liverpool

Marcus Rashford starts in Jose Mourinho’s team for tonight’s big game.

WAYNE ROONEY MUST again be content with a place on the bench for Man United’s crucial match with Liverpool this evening.

Meanwhile, Ashley Young makes his first Premier League start since the Red Devils’ match with Liverpool last January, while Marouane Fellaini joins Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera in midfield.

In attack, Mourinho keeps faith in 18-year-old Marcus Rashford, who starts alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

For Liverpool, Daniel Sturridge is handed a rare start, while Adam Lallana must be content with a place on the bench having just returned from a groin problem.

Loris Karius is preferred to Simon Mignolet in goals, while in midfield, Emre Can replaces Georginio Wijnaldum, who is out with a thigh injury.

Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren, who were both fitness doubts, are named in the starting XI.
