No surprises as Trap names XI to face Hungary

The veteran manager has indicated the same team will also line out against Croatia, barring injuries.

IRELAND MANAGER GIOVANNI Trapattoni has confirmed the team, which is widely expected to line out against Croatia next week, for tomorrow’s friendly with Hungary.

There are no real surprises in the side, as Aiden McGeady is preferred to James McClean and Kevin Doyle is given the nod up front, despite Shane Long getting on the scoresheet in the side’s most recent friendly against Bosnia.

Elsewhere, concerns over Shay Given’s fitness have been allayed, with the goalkeeper being chosen to start tomorrow.

Trapattoni previously indicated that the side selected to play Hungary would be identical to the team that turns out against Croatia, barring injuries.

Tomorrow’s friendly in Budapest kicks off at 7.30pm, ahead of the side’s first Euro 2012 game on Sunday.

Ireland team to face Hungary: Given; O’Shea, Dunne, St Ledger, Ward; Duff, Andrews, Whelan, McGeady; Keane, Doyle.
